Week 17: Neukolln

Liebe Freunde u. Familie!

What a week it has been. It was not our most successful week. But so much did happen.
We asked the Bishop here in Neukölln to share his vision for the Ward. We are praying everyday now to actualize that. We pray to find more families and Young Single Adults and, then, during the day, we FIND them! We set a goal to find two Germans and Heavenly Father sends 4 to us. I feel like my faith is inadequate for such blessings and I need to work on that.
Saturday was a very busy day. Remember we went to a lady’s house a few months ago…? Her fianc’e is a member in Leipzig and she wanted to learn about the Church. The Sister Missionaries taught her and she was baptized and confirmed two weeks ago. And Saturday, she was married to her husband in the Französischer Dom. It was so great to see the two of them taking the next couple of steps. It is great to see so many change and so much happiness in her life now.
Right after the wedding was the baptism that Elder Fuller and I had started teaching. I had been so worried for this baptism. It is hard to get members to come support our new converts. We are still trying to figure that out. But the Spirit was definitely there and the speakers were great. The man we wanted to baptize our invesitgator finally returned our phone call 2 hours before. I feel like Heavenly Father was testing my faith this whole week with this baptism.
But the program was inspired and, yet, humble. I am so grateful for that small evening in the Church. It was just what this man needed.
Elders Breitenstein and McKean were teaching him on Thursday on Tausch (Exchange) and he was asking questions about Adam and Eve. Elder McKean ended saying something about it being in the Book of Mormon and being written by a prophet and our investigator just stopped him, said, “Wait. A prophet wrote this? I must not ask any more questions.” And that was the end of that. He is so prepared and so ready to follow God and the Prophet. He was so easy teach because he had actaully read the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon can answer all of our questions. I have seen it at home, in the MTC, and here in Germany.
Ah! Christmas in Berlin! I am able to check so much off my list. Having studied German for so long, I have always wanted to come here. Just being in Germany is a check off my list. Monday, after e-mails we went to go eat a Meter wide Pizza nearby. Yes. There were about 14 missionaries from Berlin helping, too. But afterwards, we went to a Christmasmarket at Alexanderplatz. I almost cried. It was so great. It was everything I thought it would be. And the Marekt was under the shadow of the Radio Tower… or well, it’s all-seeing eye that is. It was cloudy and there was no shadow that late in the evening….

Sorry for the lack of spirituality in this email. I need to get back in the habit of preparing spiritual thoughts for my emails. Enjoy the Christmas season and stay warm and healthy!

Frohe Weihnachetn!
